Cajun Shrimp and Steak Alfredo Pasta: A Decadent Dinner Delight
Instructions:
Prepare the Steak and Shrimp:
- Season the shrimp and steak generously with Cajun seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook to your preferred doneness (about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare). Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- In the same skillet, add butter and cook the shrimp until they’re pink and opaque (about 2-3 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
Cook the Pasta:
- Boil water in a large pot, add a generous pinch of salt, and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
Make the Alfredo Sauce:
- In a clean skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
Combine Everything:
- Toss the cooked pasta into the Alfredo sauce, ensuring each strand is well-coated. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it.
- Top the pasta with sliced steak and cooked shrimp. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and, if desired, a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
Pro Tips :
- Cajun Seasoning: If you don’t have store-bought Cajun seasoning, make your own with a mix of paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme.
- Steak Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to ensure your steak is cooked to perfection. Medium-rare is around 135°F, while medium is 145°F.
- Fresh Ingredients: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese melts better and adds a richer flavor than pre-grated varieties.
- Balance the Heat: Adjust the Cajun seasoning to your spice tolerance. You can always add more heat with red pepper flakes if desired.
